How to safely remove and install the differential assembly on 2004 Volkswagen Passat?

Lift the rear of the vehicle and find a position on jackstands to block the front wheels. Take off components required to gain access, unscrew CV joint bolts and hold up driveshaft. Attach the differential with a jack and loosen mounting brackets and drop the assembly. Recheck lubricant levels by inverting the process.
