If the battery is disconnected, several systems must be re-learned before they will work properly. The receiver-dryer cartridge can't be disassembled to replace the desiccant bag. First, have the air conditioning system discharged by a dealer service department or an automotive air conditioning shop before proceeding. Next, raise the front of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. Remove the front bumper cover. Depress the air duct retaining tabs, then remove the air duct from the side of the condenser. Remove the cartridge upper fastener, followed by the cartridge lower fasteners, and then remove the lower mounting bracket fastener from the engine compartment side. Slide the dryer cartridge up and out of the vehicle, then slide the cartridge down in the channel on the condenser, install the fasteners, and tighten them securely. Finally, have the system evacuated, recharged, and leak tested by the shop that discharged it.
