Volkswagen Golf SportWagen Wiper Blade Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to handle the removal and installation of the wiper blade and related components on Volkswagen Golf SportWagen?
    A:
In order to remove and install the wiper arm, one will first put the wiper arms in the service position by switching on the windshield wipers in the one-touch wiping position before switching them off at least 10 seconds. On certain models, make sure to switch off the APP function with a factory level scanner. Use the end of the wiper arms to pry off the cap and indicate the association of the wiper shaft and the wiper arm. Unscrew the locking nut a few turns without removing it, and with a wiper arm puller, one should unscrew the wiper arm off the wiper shaft. Having set the wiper arm aside, take the locking nut out, then lift the wiper arm off the shaft and to install it is the same process in reverse. In the case of the front wiper motor run the wipers through at least one complete stroke then switch them off before letting the arms get back into the park position at least 10 seconds before the negative battery cable is disconnected. Take off the wiper arms, windshield cowl cover, and weatherstrip and unplug the wiper motor electrical connector and unscrew the fasteners on the wiper motor/linkage assembly. Lift the wiper motor assembly off the cowl area, unscrew the wiper motor-to-linkage nut and loosen the motor off the linkage bracket, and is installed the same way, but in the reverse order. In the case of rear wiper, switch off ignition, take out the key, note the position of the wiper arm on the glass and remove the base cap carefully. To remove the wiper arm, detach the rear spray jet, loosen wiper arm nut by rocking the wiper arm to and fro before removing the nut and wiper arm. Disassemble the hatch/liftgate inner trim panel, disconnect the wiper motor harness connector, and remove the mounting fasteners and then the wiper motor assembly is lifted out of the hatch/liftgate, and installation is the opposite. To change the washer pump, you need only to take the right air grille out of the front bumper, use a drain pan under the washer fluid tank, take out the hose and the electrical connection of the washer pump, and pull the pump straight upwards out of the grommet on the reservoir and this is the reverse of the procedure to take the pump out. In the case of washer fluid reservoir, one will need to take the bumper cover of the front off, empty the washer fluid, disconnect the electrical connection, and unfasten the fasteners of the reservoir to the vehicle, and the reverse will be installation. To change the washer nozzles the nozzle should be pushed upwards to remove, any electrical connection and hose removed, and the washer nozzle removed, and the installation is the same way as the removal.
