How to remove the parking brake cable on 2001 Volkswagen Cabrio?

In order to detach the parking brake cable, one has to access the lever by removing the rear section of the center. Unscrew the lock-nut, unscrew the inner cable, place the vehicle on jackstands. Squeeze the outer cable off of the body and clips and pull it out of the brake assembly. Uninstall and install again.
