2009 Volkswagen Rabbit Harmonic Balancer Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to remove and install the drivebelt while ensuring the harmonic balancer and crankshaft remain at TDC on 2009 Volkswagen Rabbit?
A: In order to take out the drivebelt, position engine to TDC and hold the crankshaft with two-pin spanner as the pulley bolts are unscrewed. It is better not to use pry bars so that it does not damage. Reversing the steps in the removal of the pulley, oil the front seal, install the new bolts and tighten them to the required torque.
