  • Q: What precautions should be taken when disconnecting the battery and removing the upper Timing Chain, Timing Chain Tensioner, Timing Cover and Timing Cover Gasket for 5-cylinder engines on 2016 Volkswagen Jetta?
    A: In order to detach the upper timing chain cover, unscrew the battery, the engine cover, air filter housing and the right front wheel. De-drain coolant, pull off hoses and take out thermostat housing. Cautiously take off the timing chain cover, clean up surfaces and fit with RTV sealant. In the case of the camshaft chain, consult an expert in case of doubt.
