To remove the center console, start with low trim level models by taking out the ashtray from the rear of the center console and disconnecting the ashtray illumination light if equipped. Loosen and remove the two retaining screws behind the ashtray, then lift the rear section of the center console upwards and off the parking brake lever, unclipping the illumination light and undoing the retaining screws. For high trim level models, loosen and remove the retaining screws and fasteners at the side and base of the storage compartment, then free the boot from the parking brake lever and take out the rear section of the center console. In manual transmission models, detach the gearshift lever boot from the console, unclip the boot trim panel, and lift it off over the gearshift lever. For automatic transmission models, remove the retaining screw and handle from the top of the selector lever, unclip the selector lever position display panel, and disconnect the wiring connector from the program switch as it becomes accessible. For all models, loosen and remove the retaining screws from the left and right front edges of the console, then undo the retaining nuts. Lift the rear of the console and slide it to the rear to disengage it from the dash, maneuver the front section out of position, and remove it from the vehicle while freeing any relevant wiring. Recover the spacers from the console mounting studs. Installation is the reverse of removal, ensuring all fasteners are securely tightened.
