To take out the hood release cable, you must first draw on the location of the hood lock on the crossmember with an appropriate marker pen before losing and unscrewing the two retaining bolts of the hood lock. Unscrew the lock out of the crossmember, snap out of the lock lever the outer cable, and off of the lock body the inner cable. Tracing up the cable, watching it being laid in the proper direction, and untying the cable, taking a piece of string and attaching it to the end of the cable. Interior- Grab the screws holding the hood release handle loosened and removed, release the cable grommet on the firewall and pull out the lever and cable assembly. After removing the cable, untie the string and leave it in its place in the vehicle to be used again. To install, attach the inner end of the string to the end of the new cable and pull the hood release cable through into the engine compartment it will then be untied. Return the hood release switch to position and screw the retaining screws of the same screw firmly until the rubber grommet is seated in the firewall. Install the hood lock; make sure that the cable is properly positioned and fixed on all the holding clips.
