Removal of the intake manifold follows first by depressurizing the fuel system, pulling the negative cable of the battery off then placing it out of reach of the terminal, attentive to have the correct activation code to any anti-theft stereo system. The next step is to remove the throttle body and air intake ducting in the throttle body, and then remove the throttle body itself. Unscrew the retaining screws and pick up the deflector plate over the fuel pressure regulator and then disconnect the wiring harness of the intake air temperature sensor. Unscrew and detach the brake booster vacuum hose on the port on the side intake manifold, then loosen and remove the through-bolts and separate the upper and lower areas of the intake manifold, scrape the retaining screw out of the support bracket. Ensure that there is nothing attached to the upper part and then remove it off the engine bay and retrieve the gasket. Take off the fuel rail and fuel injectors being careful not to strain the fuel lines when relocating the rail to one side. Gradually loosen and loosen the intake manifold-to-cylinder head bolts then lift the manifold of the head and reclaim the gasket. To install, remove it in the same order but with new manifold gaskets and make sure to clean all surfaces to be mate-up. Install the manifold-to-cylinder head and upper-to-lower manifold bolts to the desired torque, ensure that all vacuum and electrical connections are re-installed correctly and securely, and carefully inspect the vehicle to check that there are no instances of fuel leaks before reintroducing the vehicle to service.
