Volkswagen Golf Cabin Air Filter

Volkswagen Golf Cabin Air Filter provides clean air to the passengers, with no smell, that is full of dust, pollen, leaves, and exhaust particles, which are filtered before it reaches the ducts and vents of the HVAC system, which allows everyone to breathe easier with each trip. The filter, which is mounted in the outside air intake, uses tightly packed pleated paper and acts similarly to the one in the home furnace, increasing the surface area, causing the incoming stream to lose contaminants while the fresh air is passed through. This basic device, which is installed in all of the new Volkswagen vehicles, also prevents the blower from being choked by debris so that it does not strain and become damaged by pushing weak air or breaking the HVAC. The filters must be replaced at the mileage ratios mentioned in the manual or earlier when the vehicle traverses dusty or insect-infested roads, since when the filter becomes clogged the car will emit musty odors and the cabin will be stale. Washable aluminum mesh screens were applied on early automobiles, and were still available on some industry products as late as the late 1950s, but Volkswagen later followed the general move to disposable pleated inserts that fit out as slide-ins and slide-outs, which simplifies maintenance and increases the efficiency of filtration. Regardless of the model of the Golf, keeping pace with the Cabin Air Filter will maintain passenger comfort and keep the HVAC parts intact. In case the output seems slow or odors are detected, it is a good idea to investigate the Cabin Air Filter as the very first effective step as a Volkswagen owner.

Volkswagen Golf Cabin Air Filter Parts and Q&A

  • Q: Where can you find the Cabin Air Filter, and How to access and replace it on Volkswagen Golf?
    A:
The interior ventilation filter is housed in the core and enclosure of the heater and evaporator as it is found within the right side of the instrument panel (passenger side). To gain access to it, loosen the fasteners of the trim panel, and the trim panel itself, under the glove box. Then remove the ventilation filter cover fastener and push the cover towards the right till the locking tabs are clear then draw the cover down and out of the housing. Take out the filter out of the housing and place the fresh filter in the filter housing with the slots facing the right direction; i.e one slot to the left and two slots to the right so that the cover can be fitted in. Then, install the cover and force it to the driver side till it clips into place and installation is the process opposite to the process of removal. In the case of the fresh air intake filter, one should start with the engine compartment and remove the cowl panel. Removal The fresh air intake cover is unclipped on the top and then pulled outwards. When equipped, pull out the electrical connector of the fresh air sensor by disengaging the sensor retainer and pulling out the sensor. Click the fresh Air Filter screen that holds the nuts and remove the screen. Disconnect the fresh air intake filter clips and turn the filter up and out of the intake opening making sure that the new filter is fitted in the same direction as the former. In the event of dirty filter, it can be vacuumed, but when the debris content is too high, it will have to be changed. Lastly, attach the filter in to the opening making sure that the clips on the external sides place it in place, installation being the opposite process to the removal process.
