The liftgate is bulky and cumbersome to carry and fit hence at least two individuals should carry out this task. Start by opening the liftgate and detaching the cable on the negative battery connector. Use a plastic trim tool to loosen the upper paneling which borders the window, thus releasing any clips holding on to the paneling. The next step is to take off the fasteners around the grab handles and then release the lower part of the trim panel by holding the grab handles and pulling downwards sharply with a trim tool to loosen up any remaining clips. Loose the liftgate parts at the connectors, record the routing and attaching points of the wires, and push the wiring through the grommet holes. Indicate the connections between the liftgate and the hinges by marks. One with a helping hand to assist in the liftgate, a tiny screwdriver to lift the retaining springs at each end of the support struts, carefully and subsequently disconnect the springs and remove the struts at the ballstuds. Cautiously lift off the hinge covers, should they have them. Delete liftgate to hinge screws and transport liftgate off the car. The opposite of removal is installation, which provides that the liftgate correctly fits to ensure that the hinge bolts are tightened. The latch assembly is adjustable vertically once the nuts have been loosened and the closed orientation of the liftgate is adjustable by changing the position of the rubber liftgate stops that are fixed towards the upper end of the opening. Unscrew the liftgate stop plastic cover and twist the center adjusting screw.
