In order to take out the shift knob, one has to position the shift lever on the Drive position first. In the case of shift knobs that have a side button, press the button out of the handle till there is a gap, then use a zip-tie or other adequate device to hold it in. Do not use shift knob with a front button on it as it locks in when removed; do not press the button when the knob is off. Pop the shift boot off the center console by prying it off. In case the model has a sleeve that holds the shift knob, draw the sleeve upwards to let go. To remove the knob, cut off the clamp of a model with a clamp. Take out the shift knob of the shift lever assembly without pressing the button. To install, reverse the uninstalling procedures. In case the shift knob having a side button is pressed accidentally, withdraw the button until a hole appears and fit the button. In the case of front button knobs, remove the cap of the knob, insert a short rod on the groove of the shaft hole and insert it again into the groove. Lastly, attach the shift knob and boot to the shift lever assembly and press the sleeve down to secure the knob where appropriate or attach a new screw-type clamp where appropriate.
