Volkswagen Jetta Cabin Air Filter

The Volkswagen Jetta Cabin Air Filter protects the driver and passengers by filtering dust, pollen, debris, and exhaust vapor before air is passed through the HVAC vents and has remained in place to protect system components. This pleated paper panel is housed in the outside air intake and forces the flow of incoming air through tight channels, which trap particles; the result is clear vent output and avoids strain on the blower motor, which would occur should the airflow become blocked. A regular change per the owner's manual, or even earlier when traveling on dirty roads, will maintain the comfort and HVAC performance of the car, as a choked element may lead to the formation of musty odors, poor fan performance, and premature wear of parts. The Cabin Air Filter itself is to be inspected every time vent performance decreases. Over the years Volkswagen has equipped two distinguishable styles. The initial inexpensive and disposable rectangular media were like an engine filter and were merely replaced when contaminated. Subsequent designs still applied the identical principle of particle trapping but applied vehicle specific forms, which were snug under the cowl, ensuring a better seal and easy access, and still using single use pleated paper. In contrast to the reusable aluminum mesh heater core insert that some automakers experimented with decades ago, all modern Volkswagen options are intended to be swapped instead of being cleaned in order to provide stable performance. The second design of the Jetta is predominantly different in contour and pattern of installation clips but not in filtration approach, thus each driver must adhere to mileage suggestions and visual inspection to determine when a new Cabin Air Filter is required to keep the Volkswagen comfortable in any season.

Volkswagen Jetta Cabin Air Filter Parts and Q&A

  • Q: Where can you find the Cabin Air Filter, and How to access and replace it on Volkswagen Jetta?
    A:
The interior ventilation filter is housed in the core and enclosure of the heater and evaporator as it is found within the right side of the instrument panel (passenger side). To gain access to it, loosen the fasteners of the trim panel, and the trim panel itself, under the glove box. Then remove the ventilation filter cover fastener and push the cover towards the right till the locking tabs are clear then draw the cover down and out of the housing. Take out the filter out of the housing and place the fresh filter in the filter housing with the slots facing the right direction; i.e one slot to the left and two slots to the right so that the cover can be fitted in. Then, install the cover and force it to the driver side till it clips into place and installation is the process opposite to the process of removal. In the case of the fresh air intake filter, one should start with the engine compartment and remove the cowl panel. Removal The fresh air intake cover is unclipped on the top and then pulled outwards. When equipped, pull out the electrical connector of the fresh air sensor by disengaging the sensor retainer and pulling out the sensor. Click the fresh Air Filter screen that holds the nuts and remove the screen. Disconnect the fresh air intake filter clips and turn the filter up and out of the intake opening making sure that the new filter is fitted in the same direction as the former. In the event of dirty filter, it can be vacuumed, but when the debris content is too high, it will have to be changed. Lastly, attach the filter in to the opening making sure that the clips on the external sides place it in place, installation being the opposite process to the removal process.
