In 2.0L engines, the oil pressure switch is found at the rear of the oil filter housing, while 1.8L and 2.0L engines have two sending units on the oil filter housing, requiring the removal of the reduced oil pressure sending unit for gauge installation. For 2.5L engines, the sending unit is threaded into the oil filter adapter. It's important to note that 1.8L and 2.0L engines have electronically regulated oil pressure with two pressure stages that need to be checked sequentially. After unscrewing the sending unit, the gauge hose should be attached, using Teflon tape or thread sealant as needed. Once the sending unit is removed, the switch or sensor should be reconnected and grounded to the engine. An accurate tachometer must be connected to the engine, and oil pressure should be checked while the engine runs at normal operating temperature and specified speed; extremely low readings may indicate worn bearings or oil pump issues. For all models except certain 2.0L and 2.5L engines, after checking oil pressure, the electrical connector from the oil pressure regulator valve should be disconnected for further testing.

Disconnect the electrical connector from the switch, unscrew and remove the switch from the engine block, discard the old seal, and use a new one for installation if reusing the switch. The installation follows the reverse order of removal. The reduced oil pressure switch on 1.4L engines is found on the front of the engine block near the alternator. Detach the EVAP canister purge valve from the intake manifold, locate the switch, disconnect the electrical connector, unscrew and remove the switch, discard the old seal, and use a new one for installation if reusing the switch, with installation being the reverse of removal. For 1.8L, 2.0L, and 2.5L engines, the oil pressure and reduced oil pressure switches are positioned differently: on 2.0L CBPA engines, both switches are on the oil filter housing, while on other 1.8L and 2.0L engines, the oil pressure switch is on the rear of the engine block and the reduced oil pressure switch is on the oil filter housing assembly. In 2.5L engines, both switches are located on the engine block near the oil filter housing assembly. For 2.0L CBPA engines, the EVAP canister must be removed. To remove the oil pressure switch on 1.8L and 2.0L engines (except CBPA), raise and support the front of the vehicle, locate the switches, disconnect the electrical connector, unscrew the switch from the engine block or oil filter housing, discard the old seal, and use a new one for installation if reusing the switch, with installation being the reverse of removal.
