Next, remove the bolts securing the window regulator carrier to the door; for Passat models, this includes removing the two Tone bolts securing the latch to the door frame along with the window regulator carrier mounting bolts, while for Audi models, remove two bolts at the leading edge and two at the trailing edge before taking out the window regulator carrier and the wedge-shaped adjustment block. In Passat models, the regulator is part of the carrier assembly and cannot be replaced separately, whereas in Audi models, it will be necessary to drill out the regulator mounting rivets to separate the regulator from the carrier. Installation follows the reverse order of removal.
