Steel belted radial tires of metric size are fitted to all the vehicles and the use of other sizes or types can influence the ride and handling. Different tires like radials and bias belted should not be mixed in the same car since this could seriously affect the handling. It is advisable to change tires in pairs during the same axle and when replacing a single tire, it should be similar in size, structure and tread model as the other one. Handling and wear of tires are greatly impacted by the Tire pressure, and this must be measured at least once every month or prior to long journeys. Wheels that are bent, dented, air leaking, bolt holes notched elongated, heavily rusted, not in vertical line, or the wheel bolts will not hold tight should be replaced, welding or peening may not be a good solution. Tire and wheel balance is important to overall handling, braking and performance since unbalanced wheels may adversely affect handling, ride quality and tire life and balancing of tires must be done by a shop with the proper equipment anytime a tire is mounted on a wheel.
