How to properly remove and replace the rear coil springs and shock absorbers on 1999 Volkswagen Passat?

Unscrew the wheel bolts, chock the front wheels and place jackstands under the rear. Place the floor jack under the rear axle, undo shock absorber bolts and lengthen the springs by lowering the jack. Repair and change insulators and springs. Install parts again, making sure they are in place, and clamping all the bolts.
