2002 Volkswagen Cabrio Brake Pad Set Parts and Q&A

  • Q: What should you know about inspecting and replacing a rear Brake Pad Set on 2002 Volkswagen Cabrio?
A: The first thing to do is to rubber-dub the front wheels to ensure the vehicle does not roll and loose the rear wheel lug bolts, then lift up the back of the vehicle placing it safely on jackstands and then take off the rear wheels. To check this quickly, the caliper body can be checked by measuring the amount of friction material left on each brake pad at the top; when the friction material of one of the pads is worn away to the required amount or less, you have to have a full set of pads changed. To provide a detailed examination, take off the brake pads and clean them so that the caliper can be examined in a more detailed way. Lastly, replace the lug bolts and wheels, lower the vehicle and tighten lug bolts to the required torque.
