When the battery is removed, a number of systems will have to be re-trained before the systems can perform correctly. To change battery, open the battery jacket flap, then separate the cable of the negative battery terminal and then the positive terminal. Take off the battery hold-down clamped bolt and clamp at the bottom of the battery and then carefully remove the heavy battery. Battery straps and handlers sold in most auto parts stores are recommended so that they can be removed and transported easily. In changing the battery, the new battery should be of the same size, the same amperage rating, and the same cold cranking rating and the heat shield of the old battery should be moved to the new battery where a heat shield is provided. To install, put the positive cable in first and the negative cable in last and reverse the process of removing them. In order to reach the battery tray, detach the battery and (possibly) air filter housing. Unscrew any harness retainers or parts that are connected to the battery tray that may have the Transmission Control module on some models. Take out the battery tray mounting fasteners and pull off the tray, followed by the reversal of the steps taken during installation, putting in the positive cable first and the negative cable last.
