How to remove and install the Harmonic Balancer on the drivebelt on Volkswagen Jetta?

In order to take off the drivebelt, first, the engine crankshaft locking tools should be used to set the engine to TDC position. The crankshaft needs to be clamped to ensure that it does not rotate when taking out the pulley bolts; a two-pin type spanner has the capacity to fit into the hub and hold the crankshaft pulley. The use of a chain- or strap-wrench is recommended with caution since it could destroy the crankshaft pulley. Attach the holding tool in the holes of the front surface of the pulley to clamp and take off the fasteners holding it. When doing this, it is important to ensure that the crankshaft pulley is firmly held so that the engine does not get damaged or the valve timing gets altered in case the crankshaft does not stay in the TDC position. Once all the pulley bolts have been unscrewed, remove the holding tool and the pulley. To install, light coating is applied on the crankshaft front seal using clean engine oil and then the crankshaft pulley is installed. In case the seal indicates leakage, then it has to be changed before it is installed. Only new crankshaft pulley bolts are to be installed and tightened by hand. The next step is to insert the holding tool in the pulley and screw the bolts to the required torque. Then, release the holding tool and the threaded crankshaft alignment bolt mounted on the pulley and the front engine cover and get the locking pin out of the cylinder block. The rest of the installation is in the opposite sequence of the removal.
