The cable to each of the rear wheels operates independently and can be replaced separately if needed. To remove either cable, lift the rubber boot over the cable ends in the driving cab, just in front of the gear lever, and take off the nuts from the end of the cable. Next, remove the rear brake drum and unhook the end of the cable from the lever on the shoes. Release the clip that clamps the cable outer sleeve to the backplate, then draw the cable clear of the backplate, allowing it to be pulled out from the rear of the guide tube. When installing new cables, ensure they are well greased, and when attaching the cable clip to the brake back plate, the curved guide should face upwards and forwards. The handbrake lever assembly typically does not require disassembly; however, if it does, first detach the brake cables and remove the ashtray from the facia panel. Then, drive out the roll pin securing the handle to the ratchet bar, followed by removing the securing bolts of the ratchet bar bracket, along with the pins and spring, to take out the various parts.
