Remove the turn signal switch from the steering column under the steering wheel, then take off the under tray located below the front of the vehicle. Separate the drag link from the drop arm using a suitable puller to avoid damage; once the securing nut is removed, use a two-arm puller to pull the drop arm off the steering shaft, as other methods may cause damage. Bend back the tabs of the lockplate that secure the nut and bolt of the steering column coupling, then withdraw the bolt after removing the nut. Remove the four bolts that hold the steering gear case to the side member, and push the steering coupling together with the column upwards to extract the steering gear. When refitting the steering gear, ensure it is filled with oil, and align the notch on the drop arm with the notch on the shaft. For later models, the drop arm features two notches marked 'L' and 'R' for left and right-hand vehicles; when fitting the drop arm, it should be drawn onto the splines with the securing nut rather than hammered.
