How to remove and install parking brake cables on 2005 Volkswagen Passat?

In order to change the parking brake cables, elevate the car and lift heat shields. Unplug cables to calipers, trace routing of cables, and de-clip. Take off grommets and unhook cables on the compensator. To install, do the same thing back, making sure that the routing is done correctly and secured and then the brake is adjusted.
