In order to get rid of the hood, open it first and make the assistant hold it as you trace the outline of each hinge of the hood in reference to the hood so that it can be used when installing the hood. The second step will be to loosen the retaining nut and loosen the ground strap of the left-hand hood retaining bolt. Unhook the washer hose on the windshield washer jets and, when present, unhook the wiring on the jet heating elements. Next, use the loosening bolts of the hood, and with help, gently raise the hood off the car, and store it securely off the vehicle. Test the hinge of the hoods, when worn or free at the joints, replace them, as each hinge has two bolts on it, the left-hand one carrying the ground strap. Identify the location of the hinge on the body, unscrew the connective bolts, and detach the hinge of the car. To install, one need not do much except with the help of someone else to install the hood and loosely install the retaining bolts one should align the hinges with the marks that have been made earlier then tightens the bolts. Re-connect the ground strap and tighten the retaining nut. Lastly, shut the hood and look at how it fits with the other panels and make adjustments by loosening the hinge bolts, realigning and then tightening them once more making sure the hood is firmly fastened and that it opens and closes correctly.
