Volkswagen Cabrio Oil Filter Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How do frequent oil filter changes contribute to preventing engine wear on Volkswagen Cabrio?
    A:
Oil and filter change is also very important to ensure that worn out oil is not used in the engine since the old oil is watered out and polluted. The tools and materials required should be put together beforehand, you should also have clean rags and newspapers to deal with spills. One had better work with warm engine oil to drain better, but should be careful of hot engine parts. Gloves can be worn to prevent contact with the irritants of used oil on the skin. It is not so difficult to access the underside of the vehicle when it has been raised on a lift, ramps, or jackstands so as to ensure that the vehicle is level or that the drain plug is the lowest point. Unscrew the drain plug using a socket or box-end wrench, place a drain pan under the drain and fully unscrew the drain plug until all the old oil has drained out. When drained, wash the drain plug and put a new sealing washer and tighten it to the required torque. Place a container under the oil filter, loosen the filter with an oil filter removal tool and pour out the oil in the old filter into the container. Wipe the sealing area on the engine and remove the rubber sealing ring on the old filter in case it is stuck. Wipe the new filter sealing ring with clean engine oil, fit it manually and do not tighten it with tools. Once the old oil and tools are taken off under the vehicle, it should then be lowered to the ground when needed. Take out the dipstick and unscrew the oil filler cap and pour the engine with the appropriate grade and type of engine oil using a funnel to reduce spills. Add half of the stated amount first, allow the oil to pour into the oil pan, and add additional oil until the dipstick tells the right level. Turn on the engine and verify that there is no leakage around the oil filter seal and the drain plug and that there may be a delay in the oil pressure warning light. Wait a couple of minutes and turn off the engine then allow the oil to clear, re-examine the dipstick position and add additional oil as required. You should dispose the old oil in the most appropriate way which cannot be reused and you should ask local disposal agencies whether you can recycle it or not but you should never pour the used oil in the drains or the ground.
