In case the motivation to remove the radiator is leakage, remember that small leakages might be treated with the help of a radiator sealant when the radiator is installed. Start unplugging the negative battery cable, make sure that you have the proper activation code to the stereo in case it has an anti-theft system. Evacuate the cooling system followed by the removal of the front bumpers and the two headlights. Loose the retaining clamps and remove the coolant hoses of the radiator and unplug the wiring connector of the cooling fan switch at the left-hand end of the radiator. To access the air conditioning system fluid reservoir/drier assembly, unscrew the retaining nuts, release the refrigerant lines in the retaining clamps and slide the condenser forward. Unscrew and take off the four retaining bolts of the back of the radiator, and maneuver the radiator out of the front of the car; in certain models, one may need to unbolster the crossmember to get clearance. In case the radiator had been taken out because it was blocked, reverse flush it and clean the dirt and debris out of the fins with an air line or a soft brush, being extremely careful as the fins are sharp. A radiator specialist is able to carry out a flow test to identify any internal obstructions and the leaking radiator must be sent to the specialist to simply repair permanently because repair through welding or soldering can lead to damage. Major leakages can be addressed in case of an emergency with an appropriate radiator sealant. In case radiator has to be repaired or replaced, take off the cooling fan switch. To install it, place the radiator in place, fit and screw on the retaining bolts of the radiator and fit the crossmember and screw on its bolts, where applicable. In models that have air conditioning, situate the condenser and install its fixation bolts and place the reservoir/drier fixation nuts and secure all refrigerant lines. Connect the hoses to the radiator fittings once again, clamp them and reconnect the wiring connector to the cooling fan switch and reattach the headlights and front bumper. Lastly, reattach the battery and fill up the cooling system.
