- Q: How to immobilize the engine and replace the Wheel Seal and associated components on Volkswagen Cabrio?A:Freeze the engine by unplugging the electrical wiring at the connector of the fuel cut-off solenoid. Take off the drivebelt(s) and drivebelt pulleys, Timing Belt outer cover, timing belt, tensioner and intermediate shaft sprocket. Once all the retaining screws are removed, raise the inner timing belt cover by lifting it off the engine block to reveal the intermediate shaft sealing flange. Take out the shaft flange and change the shaft and flange oil seals. Install the timing belt inner cover, Timing belt middle shaft sprocket, install and tension timing belt, and lastly install timing belt outer cover. Finish it off with installation and tensioning of the drivebelt(s).
