When the battery is changed, a number of systems will have to be re-learned before being able to perform correctly. When changing the compressor, the receiver-drier is also supposed to be changed. To begin with, empty the air conditioning system. Then turn off the negative battery cable and take off the engine cover. Get the front of the vehicle elevated and place it on jackstands, make certain that it is stable, and then take away the under-vehicle splash shield. Next remove the drivebelt and clean up the compressor in the area of refrigerant line fittings. Unplug the electrical connector on the back of the air conditioning compressor, then loosen the mounting bolts of the compressor, disconnect the compressor to the mounting bracket and lower it out of the engine compartment. Un-accommodate the suction and discharge lines of the compressor, and seal the open fittings to avoid the ingress of dirt and moisture and discard the seals between the plates and the compressor. In case of a new compressor, pour the oil in the old compressor into a graduated container and add that same quantity of new refrigerant oil to the new compressor as per any directions that may be accompanying the new compressor. Certain replacement compressors could have refrigerant oil in them and in this case take the guidance on draining the excess oil before installation. Note: The oil that is used should be one marked as compatible with the use of R-134a refrigerant systems. Installation is the opposite of removal, in case of installation of the line fitting bolt to the compressor, take new seals and grease them with clean refrigerant oil and firmly screw the bolt. Last, equipment The shop that discharged the system should evacuate, recharge, and leak test the system.
