  • Q: How to remove and install a vacuum pump on Volkswagen Cabrio?
    A:
    In order to get rid of the vacuum pump, release the holding clip, and detach the vacuum hose on the top of the pump. Then loosen and unscrew the retaining bolt followed by removing the pump retaining clamp of the cylinder block. Take the vacuum pump out of the cylinder block and remove the O-ring seal and discard the old one because a new O-ring will be installed. To install it, begin by attaching the new O-ring to the vacuum pump and smear oil onto the procedure to make it easier. Install the vacuum pump in place making sure the dog on the pump drive gear corresponds with the slot in the pump drive gear. Then fit the retaining clamp, tighten the retaining bolt with proper force. Lastly, connect vacuum hose to the pump again and put back the retaining clip.
