In order to remove the trunk lid, you must first open it and unplug the negative terminal of the battery, make sure to have the right activation code to the anti-theft system of the stereo just in case. The second step is to unclip the plastic covers so as to expose the rear lights, to unscrew the wiring connectors, and tie a strip of string to both ends of the wiring. Record adequate routing of the wiring harness, release the rubber grommets, and pull out the wiring which should be reinstalled with the strings intact. Draw the outline of every hinge using a marker, loosen and detach the hinge holding bolts to detach the trunk lid. Check the hinges to see whether they are worn or damaged and replace them should the need be. To take off the support struts, hold the trunk lid in the open posture, with the help of a small flat-bladed screwdriver, lift the spring clip and disconnect the strut on the upper and lower bases. To install, reverse the steps used in removal and position the hinges along the marks made earlier and once the trunk lid is closed, ensure it fits with the other panels and slightly adjust measures needed. Lastly, make sure that the support struts are firmly clipped in place.
