If the battery is disconnected, several systems must be re-learned before they will work properly. First, disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Next, remove the engine cover. The CMP sensor is located at the front of the cylinder head on four-cylinder timing belt engine models, specifically at the front left corner of the cylinder head, and on four-cylinder timing chain engines, it is found on the front side of the cylinder head cover just below the oil filler cap. For five-cylinder engine models, the CMP sensor is located on the front side of the camshaft guide frame. After locating the sensor, disconnect the CMP sensor electrical connector, then remove the CMP sensor mounting fastener and take out the CMP sensor. Installation is the reverse of removal.
