Volkswagen Rabbit Fuel Pressure Regulator Parts and Q&A

  • Q: What precautions should be taken regarding the Fuel Pressure Regulator when servicing the fuel system on Volkswagen Rabbit?
    A:
The fuel system of five-cylinder models can easily be damaged to the catalytic converter unless it is bled when it has been opened. Moreover, a number of systems have to be retrained with each time the battery is switched off. To begin with, jackknife the car and place it on jackstands. The second step involves draining the fuel system pressure and after that, disconnection of the fuel side of the fuel filter. Then take out the fuel filter. Continue to loosen the fuel pressure regulator retaining clip and remove the pressure regulator in the fuel filter. Change pressure regulator O-ring seals, make sure that the small O-ring seal is not visible on the pressure regulator, so the same can be contained within the fuel filter hence its removal and disposal. Apply a coating of engine oil on the new O-rings and fit them on the regulator. Install the regulator to the fuel filter that is fully inserted and then the retaining clip. Bleed fuel system of five-cylinder engines. Lastly, turn on the engine and ensure that there are no leaks.
