Secondly, take off the under vehicle splash shield, empty the coolant in the cooling system and take off the coolant reservoir. Take out the tensioner gasket and strainer, then take out the timing chain of the housing and note the direction the timing chain was turned in case it is required to be reused. To install, loop the camshaft timing chain on the double sprocket, place the chain guide and tensioner guide into place on the cylinder head dowels, move the tensioner strainer into place, and place the tensioner gasket and assembly to the cylinder head dowels, and tighten the fastener to the required specifications. Install the intake camshaft adjuster sprocker and loop the timing chain over sprocker and the exhaust camshaft sprocker and loosely tighten the sprocket mounting insert by hand. Take out the pin of the tensioner and push the piston forward to connect with the chain guide, change the time of the valve, and install it in the same order as the pin was removed.

When the battery has not been slipped out, some of the systems erroneously need to be re-learned before operating correctly. In order to take off the upper timing chain cover, one needs to take off the engine cover then the battery and battery tray. Unscrew the right front wheel bolts, raise the front of the car and prop it firmly on jackstands, blocking the wheels at the other end and then remove the right front wheel. Secondly, you will have to take off the under-vehicle splash shield, drain the coolant in the cooling system, and take off the coolant reservoir. Unscrew the vacuum hose to the vacuum pump and the hoses to the thermostat to the house, and take out the coolant pipe through the thermostat house pulling the retaining clip upwards, and pulling the pipe out. Disconnect the engine coolant temperature switch, take off the thermostat housing that has fasteners and take off the thermostat housing. In a diagonal manner, loosen the top timing chain cover that is still attached and loosen the cover of the cylinder head delicately. To install, follow the steps in reverse, cleaning the mating surfaces of all sealant, then place the engine cover in place within four minutes of applying a 1/8-inch bead of RTV sealant, then ensuring the bolts are tightened in a diagonal fashion up to the required torque, place another cover oil seal, and then check and adjust the valve timing, as needed. Removal To take off the camshaft chain cover seal, remove the timing chain cover, then push the seal out of the rear side of the camshaft cover using a socket or tube and then press the new seal in until it snaps into place, do not overstep the cover as it could be damaged. In the case of the camshaft timing chain and tensioner, it should be approached with a lot of care because the timing system is a complicated affair and one should seek the advice of an expert in case of doubt. Start by taking off the upper timing chain cover and valve cover, ensuring the crankshaft has been locked at TDC at cylinder no. 5 and put in the camshaft holding tool. Tighten the timing chain tensioner piston with a pin and take out the exhaust camshaft sprocket and intake camshaft adjuster sprocket fasteners, and pull the sprockets off the camshafts. Loosen tensioner mounting fastener and slide the tensioner assembly, chain guide and tensioner guide down the cylinder head dowels, being careful not to lift the pin that attaches the tensioner piston in the compressed position. Take off the tensioner gasket and strainer, the tensioner timing chain out of the housing and make a note of the original line of rotation should it be required again. To install, wrap the camshaft timing chain on to the two sprockets, clamp the chain, apply the chain guide and tensioner guide on the cylinder head dowels. Install the tensioner gasket and assembly along with tensioner strainer, attach the fastener to the required torque. Install the sprocker of the camshaft intake adjuster and then wrap the timing chain on the sprocker and the exhaust camshaft sprocker and tighten the fastener by hand. Take the pin out of the tensioner and open the piston to allow the chain guide to fit in, set the valve timing and finish the installation by reversing the actions that you have done.
