What is the function of the Mass Air Flow Sensor and How to install and remove it on Volkswagen Passat?

The mass airflow sensor records the quantity of air moving through its housing and intake to the engine through the throttle body giving important information to the ECM to regulate the amount of fuel to be delivered; the more air flowing into the engine the more fuel must be delivered. Firstly, it is necessary to loosen the hose clamp and unconnect the air duct with the sensor and then to unconnect the electrical connector. The second step is to take off the air filter housing cover and remove the screws that hold the sensor in place on the air filter cover after which the sensor is carefully removed without breaking since this may affect the whole fuel injection system. The reverse of the removal process is just installation.
