Volkswagen Rabbit MAP Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the MAP Sensor on Volkswagen Rabbit?
    A:
The 2.5L five-cylinder models only have MAP sensor which is located at the rear of the intake manifold and close to the throttle body. In later models, including 2009, intake Air Temperature Sensor is combined with manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor, which is also known as MAP/IAT. Start with removing the engine cover. The second step would be to unattach the electrical connector to the sensor of the MAP, which is usually found on five-cylinder models. Then, remove the mounting screws to the MAP/IAT sensor and dismount the sensor. The old MAP/IAT sensor O-ring must be disposed of and then installed in the converse order of its removal. It should be mentioned that the O-ring is not a spare component and is only available with a new sensor.
