How to remove and reinstall the steering column covers on Volkswagen Jetta?

Carefully use a small flat screwdriver or trim tool to pry the top steering column cover off but paying attention to the corners to remove the upper trim cover. Move the top steering column cover to reveal the flexible gap trim clips, unscrew these clips and the top cover, but being careful to remember the location of the upper cover studs at the back to fit in the correct locations with the lower column grooves upon re-insertion. Unscrew the fasteners connecting the lower trim cover to the steering column, and take note of the fact that there are two hidden by the upper trim cover and one at the bottom of the lower trim cover. Prior to the removal of the lower trim cover, remove the key transponder receiver electrical connector. The order of removal is reversed during reinstallation.
