To remove the wheel trim or hub cap, loosen the driveaxle or hub bolt with a 90-degree turn and the wheel bolts while the vehicle is on its wheels. Chock the rear wheels, apply the parking brake, raise the front of the vehicle, and support it securely on jackstands before removing the wheel and driveaxle or hub bolt. Disconnect the stabilizer bar link from the strut, then remove the fastener and bracket holding the brake hose and ABS sensor harness connector to the strut. Remove the strut-to-knuckle nut and knock the bolt out with a hammer and punch, then remove the balljoint-to-control arm nuts and separate the control arm from the balljoint. If equipped, disconnect the front level control sensor arm from the control arm. Separate the strut from the steering knuckle while supporting the driveaxle, using penetrating oil or water to help if the shock tube is frozen in the steering knuckle. Support the driveaxle to prevent damage to the inner CV joint. Place a floor jack under the steering knuckle to support it without lifting the vehicle. Remove the cowl panel, then support the strut and spring assembly with one hand while removing the three strut-to-shock tower fasteners and guiding the strut assembly from the fenderwell. Inspect the strut body for leaks, dents, or cracks, and check the coil spring for chips or cracks in the coating, as well as the spring seat for deterioration. If any issues are found, proceed to disassemble the strut. For installation, it may be easier with an assistant due to the weight of the strut assembly. Guide the strut assembly into the fenderwell and install the mounting bolts, ensuring one of the arrows on the strut bearing retainer points towards the front of the car. Slide the strut tube into the steering knuckle until fully seated, then insert the bolt with the threaded end facing forward and tighten the nut. Reattach the brake hose and ABS speed sensor wiring harness bracket to the strut, install the driveaxle into the hub splines with a new driveaxle or hub bolt, and tighten securely. Connect the control arm to the balljoint and tighten the fasteners, then tighten the three upper mounting bolts. Install the wheel, lower the vehicle, and tighten the driveaxle or hub bolt and wheel bolts. Finally, reinstall the cowl panel.
